Bayer Leverkusen Takes 2-0 Lead Over Roma in First Leg of Europa League Knockouts

Strong Performances by Wirtz and Andrich Contribute to Victory

Bayer Leverkusen's sporting managing director, Simon Rolfes, expressed excitement over the team's new signing, Robert.

In the first leg of the Europa League knockout stage, Bayer Leverkusen secured a 2-0 victory over AS Roma. Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich each scored goals for Leverkusen, giving them a significant advantage heading into the second leg.

The match was played at the BayArena in Leverkusen, Germany. Wirtz opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. Andrich then doubled the lead in the 59th minute with a header from a corner kick.

Leverkusen's defense played a key role in the victory, limiting Roma to only a few chances. Goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky made several crucial saves to keep a clean sheet.

Rolfes praised the performance of the team, especially Wirtz and Andrich. He also expressed confidence in the team's chances of advancing to the next round.

The second leg of the knockout tie will be played in Rome on March 16.
